Wow, she is awesome. Would love to have some blooming in my yard next year to mix it up with the brug fragrance.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Bruige. Be honest, you would love to have everything and anything in your yard blooming!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Gosh! Thats a huge clump there Brin! The flowers look as big as the pretty kitty sitting there! Very pretty!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hey Girls....thanks!!! And Shelly!!! LMAO....I don't know that kitty! I didn't even see it when I took the pic. Geez....it was dark and if that thing would have moved I would have died. DH is in Kentucky til Monday and I'm alone. LOLOLOL I'm not a fraidy-cat BUT I am a chicken sometimes. I'm going out to see if I can find that critter and feed it. It's probably a stray or a kitten that the neighbors kids brought home and the dad won't let them keep it. So guess who gets it??? LOL

Your vine is lovely, Brinda!

Not everything Kell. The Morning Glories have to go. They got way out of control this year. I'm getting rid of so much stuff this year, you would be proud of me. Time for something new. LOL! However, in a way you are right. I love blooming plants, but I'm learning to mix it up with foliage plants too.

beautiful, brinda. what kind of support do you use on that MF? Doesn't MF choke out MG or viceversa? or do they coexist happily in same support?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hi vosser, the vine is on a vine pole that I found plans for and DH made it. I'm attaching a pic of it. It is on the far left side. This pic was taken onJuly 4th this year...wow how they grew in a couple of months. I orginally planted the MG and thought they weren't going to grow. So I poked 2 MF seeds in the ground. They became monsters quickly! I do have MG and MF planted together in a couple other places and they are fine. The MF does get much larger though.

Beautiful!
Wonder if the MG and Moon flower will cross since they were open at the same time???
or can that just not happen?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Very pretty; my moonflowers didn't grow this year. This is 2 years in a row I can't get them to grow.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I always seem to get discouraged with them.....mostly because I don't have a lot of patience. And then they start putting on a huge show late in the year. I must have triple the amount tonight as you see in the first pic here! I just love them.....and they smell so good.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I love your vine pole. What a great DH you have! A great idea!

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Your flowers are beautiful Brinda. I love your vine pole also.

Hi Brinda,
I am looking for seeds if you have any extra that you can spare. I had my first bloom on my birthday on the 30th. I am now convinced that this is one of my (need to haves) in my garden. I have one trade of 'Kiss me over the garden gat' that I would gladly send for a trade of some of your moon flowers.

Here is the one flower that bloomed for me a few days ago.

Hello Jan! I will have tons of seed to share. The pods are getting huge and hopefully will be ready to go before our first frost, which is supposed to be Nov 7th. You and anyone else is welcome to seeds. I'll keep you posted as the seed pods mature.

Since this was my first bloom can you tell me where the seed pods develope. Is it like the morning glories and the seeds develope behind the flower after it has bloomed? I will keep watching the one I have to see if I get any seeds from it.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

No....the blooms on their long stems fall off, and then way behind the seed pods starts to develope.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks I will keep my eyes on it but would still love to have some seeds if you can spare them.
Thank you
Jan

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Brenda I am in Kingston OK where is Yukon? I would like to try a Moon Flower Vine. I thought my Mom had one but it is a Datura. Have lots of them for trade. Ted

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hello TA.....Yukon is a suburb just west of OKC. I'll put your name on some seeds! They are really easy....almost like MGs, ignore them and they'll grow like crazy. They are difficult to start from seed tho....I use the paper towel/baggie method and have really good luck. Where is Kingston?

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

East of Ardmore on Lake Texoma. Between Kingston and Durant. Thanks and my address is on the address exchange.
