I went into town which is about 30 miles away now. saw a lady cutting back a beautiful peach pink colored brug. all down the street almost everyone had the same plant. i saw here pile up the brug cuttings by the trash can. Said to myself o wow ill ask since she is throwing them away can i have them. lots of good cuttings.
i stopped and asked her could i have them since she was tossing them. she asked why i was intersted so i told her i would like to start some off the cuttings she was throwing away. well this is the bad thing she picked up all the cutting and took them and threw them in the fire her husband was burning leaves in. her husband asked her why she didnt give them to me. he didnt see the harm since she has given them in the past. the lady said nothing went in the house and shut the door.
the poor man was so upset bu this he was telling me how sorry he was for her behavior.
i just hate to see all those that could have been go into the fire. its awful since she was going to throw them out anyway why not let someone else have a few of them.
guess i had to vent over this one. i probably wont stop for awhile and ask about throw aways agian for a long time.

I'm sorry to hear she was in such a bad mood. It is a shame she couldn't share with you. Maybe someone else on the street would have given you a cutting. Next time you are there, why not just stop and ask one of them. Most people are very willing to share when they see someone is interested in what they are growing.
I will next time i am in town. i just hate thinking all those cuttings went to the fire. and they were really pretty.

i still am in shock over it. i always see these brugs when we go to town( Aiken( far side of) ) i told her how pretty i thought they were and would be pleased to have a few come out the cuttings but to throw them in the fire because i asked for them just blew me away.
maybe she was having a bad day. Its just a shame. they were beautiful.

Those peeps in Aiken are for the most part, snobbish to me. It makes complete sense now I know where this happened....some people are just so rude and that was just disgusting pure and simple.

yes they are thats why i moved 30 miles away. i had to deal with them and the ones in North Augusta all the time. i tell you you have to live here to understand these people sometimes. I hated having to deal with it from the schools to the post office to the stores. the people here in Jackson are so much nicer and kinder but i am in the boonies now. hehe
anyway it just was RUDE!!!!
I understand your puzzlement! I would think she would be happy to see that someone would love her cuttings and to be thrilled to have someone else enjoy her plant. Most of us would love to think that someone who appreciates our extras, would take them and enjoy them. We'll never know her problem, but she is the one who has lost out, by not offering her castoffs to someone who would love and care for them.

I'm certainly not defending her, but the lady might have a mental illness . I feel sorry for her poor embarrassed husband, too!
Maybe she needs to take her hormone pill, lol. I get almost that ill and very exhausted if I miss taking my thryoid for 2 or 3 days. I don't miss it anymore, though!
In Tennessee, we call that lady a word that rhymes with witch. Who knows why she would do such a thing, but it ticks me off just hearing about it. Maybe you'll find someone willing to share in your area. I believe I'd avoid that neighborhood when possible.
