Hi everyone,
Now that the new camera has returned from its vacation in Saskatchewan with Durwin (DH), and I have loaded up the software and figured out (hopefully) how to post pictures, here's the inaugural shot from our yard. When I tried it in the test forum, it took a lo-o-o-o-ong time to upload - maybe this is something inherent to dial-up? Anyway, I have several but may not have time to post them all before I go to bed tonight! :-) Here goes....
This is a shot from our back yard, looking north-west over a street called Cinq-Mars, that runs up along the west side of our property. Part of the Gatineau Hills are in the background. In the foreground are some sunflowers, a peony bush and some beans - this is a garden that's been resurrected, with limited success, from a sand & weed patch. I have better hopes for next year; it'll need lots of leaves dug in this fall.
The camera's up & running!
Hmmm...the owner of the camera says he needs to get on the internet to do some banking....well, I *guess* I can let him have it for a while :-)
Hope everyone's having a beautiful early fall evening!
Shannon
Your garden is lovely Shannon and what a wonderful view!! I'm happy you got your camera back and am looking forward to seeing more of your garden, vista and anything else that captures your fancy. Dave's is a wonderful place to enjoy the benefits of a hosted trip without the huge expense!
It is tough sharing! ;)
Hi, Shannon
Your pictures are just fabulous...Did you get the seeds I sent up to you?
I must try to figure my camera out as well..
Ingrid
Thanks, everyone! OFG, I'm a westerner too but was always curious about what it's like in Quebec. When DH and I both got jobs in Ottawa a couple of years ago, we discovered that the real estate was *much* cheaper on the Hull side of the river, so it worked out well. There are a few little differences....there's always that referendum question hanging over your head - but seeing as we aren't talking politics, a much better example is that you can buy beer at the supermarket or corner store! :-)
And the store hours are much more restrictive - there's not nearly as much evening or Sunday shopping as I'd been accustomed to having (even felt I deserved!) in Edmonton. As I understand it, it's because of the labour laws being designed to let the store workers have more time off. It's definitely been an education so far.
Ingrid, yes I did get the seeds - thanks again so much! Did you get my e-mail on DG?
They were beautifully packaged too! Let me know if there's anything I can send you, and I'll keep it in mind too, as I get new plants.
Hope your holidays go well, ceedub. Where are you headed?
I have some more photos which I hope to get posted shortly, if you can all put up with my inexperience...I'll try to keep the blurry ones out! :-)
Shannon
Beautiful photos, Yumiko. Are they all at your place in Nanaimo?
And a hot, dry streetside patch that I'm wondering what to do with. I'm thinking some campanula, with a bunch of red tulips for a spring accent...? Some varieties of campanula are more drought resistant than others. Anyway, this is the "before" picture. The "after" picture will be next spring, hopefully.

You have beautiful home, sunflower pictures are nice but sunset pictures are the best, beautiful colors in those pictures. Want to see more and more pictures. Snow pictures.
yumiko
You posted nice pictures also.
Thanks, gumlla. I promise to post lots of snow pictures...but don't wish for them too soon, as we're still enjoying some warm weather! :-) Probably in a couple of months it'll be totally white outside....
Probably??? ;)
Yeah....more like 3 or 4 weeks... :-( I'm still in denial mode. Wearing shorts & sandals today, no matter what comes our way.
I know the feeling...I've worn sandals up to December 23 when Old Man W**I**N**T**E**R has decided to be very kind to us. Added blessing it did snow on the 25th those years!! :D

Shannon, your pictures are just beautiful.......

Thanks, Ingrid! I'm having fun with this camera; next step is to learn how to take close-ups. By the way, please stop by for tea if you're down the road in our area. (Which also goes for everyone else, of course!)

It's funny you were to mention this but I'am having a visit from a DG member , and looking forward to it. It's wonderful how things like this brings people together.
I sent you a e-mail before, don't know if you received it.
