First time ever: This summer I planted Oriental Lilies which were in one gallon containers. They did bloom this summer and then the foliage began getting yellower and yellower. I looked under the mulch and see that the bulb is right at ground level. I assumed this was good, but just now I looked at a website and saw that lily bulbs are supposed to be planted 8" below ground. Should I dig mine up and replant them or would I be destroying their roots and killing them? Help! Please.

How deep do you think they are planted now? If they are about six inches down, they should be alright with a good mulch over them. You could put a bit more soil over top of them if you are worried. Mine have survived here and I don't think I planted them that deep. I have them where they get lots of snow cover till late.
Thanks for the reply. I think I'l try covering them with more soil and mulch. Seems much less disruptive. Then if they don't make it, I'll replant some next year from scratch and do it right instead of the easy way I did this year.
