Here is a thread with instructions for planting them the way Monika does it. About the third post down. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/423280/ I've planted them this way and had really good luck. Many people have had good luck planting seeds in Rockwool too.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh boy, you are in trouble! This is how it starts.. the next thing you know, you are eating, sleeping, and talking nothing but brugmansias...

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

I would imagine that the cuttings I received would go a little limp or shock from shipping to water. Some are straight up and 2 have a slight limp to them. i have to keep these in tip top shape.......
Thanks, for all your help. I can see this being addictive.
Best regards, Ingrid

If they get too limp, just put them in their pot or glass in a clear plastic bag that you have put water in and then drained. Close up the top to make it airtight. The brug will rehydrate overnight. I have even left them in plastic bags for weeks to root esp if picky ones. Good luck Ingrid!

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Kell, do you put the whole cutting, leaves and all, closed in the airtight bag? I would think they would rot in that. I'm such a newbie with brugs, and I'm learning so much from you guys.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have never had any rot. This year I didn't really do many cuttings but last year I did so many this way and it worked very well.

Also if you find an almost dead severed branch off a prized brug, I have broguht them back to life by cutting a fresh end, sticking it in water and then enclosing the entire cup of water and brug in a moist airtight bag. I also blow into the end of the bag to puff it up. But after a few days it deflates and does not seem to hurt the plant.

Leave bag in a cool, shady place.

This is also good for your greens in the refrig. Basil keeps fresh for quite a while.

Wow...cuttings. it is the easy way to have agood plant of Brugmansia. I tried many times from seeds but invain. I also sent you few seeds, hope you will receive soon.

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

Gumlla, Thank -you as well. Haven't received them yet. Your pkg from me should be there soon. Maybe it takes 12 days to Pakistan?? I'am sure all will be fine...

Don't tell me you have trouble with the seeds..My cuttings look like there home sick.

Kell, I did what you said about the bag. Hopefully, by tomorrow they will look happy with there new enviroment. Maybe , they're tired of me checking them all the time.....Just a proud mom of 6-new babies

Are they in dirt? I find you can kill them with overwatering. People tend to keep watering when they go limp. Do not! If soil is wet, leave them alone. Of course if you have them in a plastic bag, just leave them alone. But if out, you can mist the leaves but do not water the soil unless dry. They always tend to perk up after a little while. Keep in a cool shady place.

Actually I tried all the procedure but in vain, may be I did mistakes in following germination process. I think not may be definately. I am wishing you will have alot of seedlings from your seeds ; )

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

Kell, there not in dirt. The roots are not pronounced yet. There in a vase and plastic bag over them.I blow in the bag and closed it up. I'll go and mist the leaves now. that might help??
Thanks,

Ingrid, I'm so glad they arrived alive for you. I remember getting some cuttings last fall, and had them in a glass of water, (I changed the water every day) and they were covered with a clear plastic bag, that I also blew into. They all turned out well. I had one that was sorry looking for a fews 4-5 days, then the next day was standing very tall and proud.

You've received lots of great advise, you should be a proud brug mum with lots of babies blooming for you next summer.

Be warned, this is the start of a wonderful obsession. LOL

Ingrid...so glad for the happy ending! One of my cuttings were limp after I got her in July, right now she has buds! They seem to be pretty tough and really want to survive! Good luck with your seeds and plants!
