My first blooms on Charles

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm so happy. I know everyone had Charles Grumaldi but this is the first time I have had blooms on a rooted cutting I purchase on eBay this spring. I had gotten what I was told was Charles before and it turned out to be Frosty Pink. Here are some pictures.

I may be wrong, but I think what you have now is Dr. Suess. It is a great plant no matter what you have. Suess has serrated leaves and Grimaldi has smooth leaves. At least that is what I've been told.

Give it a good sniff for me!! Goreous blooms, and one of the best scented,be it CG or DS.

Brugie, now I'm worried again. But take a look at this thread.

Thanks BrugNanny and Monika. I'm still trying to figure out if this is Charles Grumaldi. I bought it as Charles.

flowerjunkie - maybe Eclipse can give you a verdict on your brug. I had the same question a while ago: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/447764/ My alleged "C.G." always has very toothed leaves and is probably Dr. Seuss. Yours looks less "toothy" than mine so maybe yours is actually CG - or some other impostor hybrid. This seems to be one of those questions for which you sometimes can't get a definite answer. Regardless, you have a nice plant there and it's growing well for you, so don't worry about it too much!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This is so hard for me to tell because it looks like one picture has smooth leaves and the other has toothed leaves. I'm no expert and think that Monika and Kyle can tell you more. I just know I'd like to have the real McCoy!! I think it will get even harder to ID yellows because we have so many with serrated leaves now. I was going by the serrated leaves in the first picture and now I'll sit back and wait for a verdict from someone who can tell. I sure can't.

Which ever one it is, it's beautiful Daisy. Congrats

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 7a)

congratulation!
First bloom is very special ,isn't it?
I like your plant shape. Very gorgeous.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Kyle is the expert on this one. CG and Dr. Seuss are both US plants.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You might have to repost to bring his attention to it and use his name in the subject line. Something like "Kyle, need your help" or something that would fit your needs.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Well the problem with this brug is that it has BOTH toothed and smooth leaves. So I'm really confused now. I'll post again for Kyle's attention. I keep trying to get a Charles and it always turns out to be something else. :-( It is beautiful but I still need to know what it is. I don't like passing around cuttings of something misnamed. You know what I mean.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms and very nice healthy looking foliage. Great job whether it is CG or DS.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Beautiful regardless!! Congrats.

Dasiy these are beautiful. Very very attractive color.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Kyle just confirmed that it is Dr. Suess. So I'm hunting for the real Charles now.

Thank to everyone.
