OFFER GIVEN - Landscaper discount for CO-OP

Don Budd owner called today and was interested in working with a CO-OP structure which I had proposed to him.
He's offering 20% off which is given to Landscapers. They are situated in the east -end of Ottawa, and his site shows all which is offered. He notes that for spring the order for his Nursery is not complete and anyone who has a 'wishlist' he will make an effort to bring it in for this-if he is able to obtain it. He stated that if anyone was interested in large tub plantings to consider the pricing-apparently costly ..which is no doubt.
As a business owner myself-he seems very workable and has good business ethics.
He suggested, that if "we "or "who-ever" started to get a list from who all were interested & order list-it would enable him to have a better time frame to fufill special requests.(Spring)

So, here is an opportunity...what we do with it is another question....

I thought maybe we should see who all would be interested- first in a Canadian Co-op.
As well a product purchase offer, then present it to them and go from there and see if it is workable for everyone. Or just a certain radius which would be profitable for the trader.

Then, see who wants to take this on to completion. For myself, I'am a little over a month subscriber and won't mind helping someone but not to manage it alone.

So, what do you all think??

Blessings, Ingrid

Went into the co-op discussion and someone told me between 20-25% was the discount they were offered and made a co-op from.
So, we could always negotiate the % with Budds and see if it is possible for a better discount...

Just a thought..

Hello Ingrid,
I went to Budd's site and checked prices.
I think they are quite high.
I can get the same plants at a lower price right here in my local garden centres. So sorry...I won't be participatating.
I wish you well though.
Cheers,
Carol

Carol, your right-especially if we check around there are better prices.Who knows ,maybe he'll take down some of his prices especially if we enlighten him to know the competitors are lower.

We do local (on the prairies with a few stray BC ers) co-ops from USA, mainly for iris & lilies. No Lilies this year as went totally overboard with iris. It works really well. You usually end up paying list price but in Cdn$$ if all goes well.

We placed this particular order in March and iris were delivered in early Sept.

Next year are going to order from Riverview and will try to get a US address near the border to have as the delivery addy. Then I'll go down and bring through customs, pay GST etc myself .

Paradise might want to join the Ottawa Valley Iris Soc. for iris from US next year. Much too late for anything this year.
