I guess that is appropriate? I saw him emerging and ran for my camera...the chrysalis was on the hook for my birdfeeder of all places. I can't tell what kind it is - it looks to be black and white, but maybe they change color as their wings dry...

Thanks Magpye! I see the chrysalis here and there in my garden, but usually am not around when they emerge into the world - so I was glad I noticed it when I did :) I saw a black swallowtail next to his chrysalis once - but by the time I got the camera he was gone ;(
