Huge Black Bee

That is a carpenter bee, I believe. They are great pollinators, but live in wood and can be destructive, if they pick your house, instead of a dead log...

Great photo Montery! But I think mine is a different kind maybe...he isn't fuzzy like yours. They are big, and you can hear them buzzing around loudly. I've seen the yellow and black also - but this guy was unusual looking to me.
I hope it doesn't eat my wood!!! I have a brick house, but wood around two windows...

Thats probably a young one . I have smaller ones mixed in with the big guys too. This was in early may when the other bee was young, see not hairy then. I have these little guys that look the same.
