Dear members;

I visited the US this summer and drove Redondo Beach way September 3 after 40 years. By the roadside adjoining the park, I saw a fairly old tree, 3 meters tall, with several thick trunks as if those of a bush. See the photos I attach. Then, search after search I ended up finding this picture. Leaves are exactly the same but flowers are apparently different. Are these differences neglectable? Can I conclude that the tree at Redondo Beach roadside is Feijoa sellowiana?

I'll very much appreciate your kind response.

p.s. Our drive from Yosemite, Fresno, to Los Angeles left me a pleasant job of finding names for them.

It's not a feijoa. I looks like a Metrosideros species, not sure what ones you have over there.

Hello, bootandall,Blenheim(New Zealand).
Thanks to your response, I could find the exact flower I wanted under the name "Metrosideros." Calif_Sue posted wonderful pictures of Metrosideros excelsa in the PlantFiles.

So far I haven't seen one in Japan.
