I wanted to thank all of you that have given me such warm welcomes and especially to Smiln32, Tazzy for there generosity in helping add to my poor garden and maybe by next year I will have a few more ready to plant. I also want to thank roadrunner for such a warm welcome, I was so touched.
I just found this site by accident searching for a few types of plants that I have that I could not identify and have been to a few others but just did not seem to be as friendly and wanting to take any time for a newbie....
I moved here to Cookeville about 7 years ago from Texas and I have two sons, one who moved out here and one in the military and a daughter and soon to have 3 grandsons..
I love all kinds of gardening and water gardens which I dug a small pond at the beginning of summer and now this fall I am going to make it bigger so I won't have to winterize my fish inside..Plus I am hoping my hardy water lily will survive if I place it in the aquarium with my fish. Maybe someone out there can help me with that question.
Well enough about me I am so glad to have found DG and hope to get to know many of you...........
Here is my favorite picture about the best garden I have so far....My hubby does woodworking so he made the decorations I added...

Thanks for the welcomes..
A friend gave me about 4 2 inch Daturas and I thought it would be next year before they would bloom but I was wrong I have them planted all over now and was so exited they are blooming now...
Hi Vickie...Glad you found us...and I love your pond. I'd love to have one but I'd have to keep water running into it all the time as it would dry up in no time here. Jo
a big hello from new york
Hello all thanks for making me feel welcome
..
And my pond id what you call a poor mans pond, my hubby had this idea to take a large dish antenna and turn it upside down. We buried it in the ground added a lot of rock and gravel from the creeks and brought in large plat rock to make the edge and I bought a two tear waterfall and he placed rock around it to make it look more natural and placed a pump in it. I added 5 different gold fish, a few water Hyacinth which did multiply quickly, a hardy water lily since I had never done one before and planted a garden around it, but since it is the only level part of the back yard on the back side it has a steep hill and my son lifted large flat rock and i made a rock hill side. He he has a place he brought in white sand from the sand quarry and placed a hammock and it is so peaceful to lay out there and listen to the water fall. Now this winter I am moving my fish inside since it is not deep enough to winterize and I am planing on digging a deeper pond now that I have had a summer to experiment...It was lots of fun
Greetings from Pocahontas, TN! We're located 80 miles east of Memphis, right at the TN/MS Stateline.
Thanks, I was wondering where Pocahontas was I love that name (:
We went to convention in memphis in june and I had never been out there before it was great... We are about 80 miles east of nashville
FYI There is a gathering in Kentucky this weekend of people who are members of Dave's Garden Website. I just joined DG so I won't know anyone but it sounds like a lot of fun and I'm especially interested in the plant swap at 10 AM on Saturday. For additional information you can read the threads on the Roundup Forum, KYRU (KY Roundup) . There is Saturday Lunch, Friday Night Shrimp Boil etc.
Thanks, I have heard about it but will not be able to make it this time.. I hope you all have a great time and think of me ):
Welcome to Dave's, from a high desert gardener who is envious of your delightful little pond and tickled with your invention. What a good thing to do with one of those old disks. It's nice to have you join our neighborhood. It's one that takes in the whole world. ~Blooms
Thank you again, it truly is so much fun here and I have gotten so many new ideas from all of you...I have had to adjust the the zone change from Texas to here, but I have to admit I love the winters just to know spring is right around the corner...
