Hi all
I have 4 brugs blooming at the moment which to me are very special but I didn't realize I was incinting a riot in Dowagiac!!!
I have now had at 6 people stop when I was outside to find out what they were, but today was the best at 8:00 a.m. I had someone ringing my doorbell!!! Answering the door to find out it is only another curiousity seeker who has to know what those plants are!!!
Poppysue I bet you had no idea when you sent these last fall that you would be causing all of this attention to be focused on my little corner of the world!!!
Brugs are Driving Dowagiac Residents Crazy!!!!
Great picture. Doesn't it make you feel good when complete strangers stop to compliment your gardens and flowers? You did good Alice!! Congrats on all the blooms.
Alice I can understand why they stopped, look at your pretty display!!! They are beautifully complimented with your choice of flower's to surround the most beautiful plant in the world. Great job!

Looking good, Alice. I've had a few stop and ask me what they were. Daniels school bus driver told him to ask me what they were so the next evening I waited for his bus and gave her one. She was thrilled to death to get it
Thank you Thank you!!!
I am so overwhelmed by them myself that I love every occassion to brag a little that I can get!!!!
Maybe I will become famous???? or is that infamous???? always have trouble keeping those straight!!haha
Aknapp, your yard looks beautiful. Just don't let all those curiosity seekers know how easy they are to root from cuttings, or you might wake up one morning and see your brugs cut to the ground. Just kidding. LOL
I have to agree with the others, Alice - Beautiful display. Brugs sure are draw droppers aren't they? I saw one in person for the first time last summer when I visited the gardens at UCONN (this school has a good agricultural program) - I was awestruck too! - read the label on the plant tag and ran home to log in here and check out this forum. I had seen the forum as I browsed around Dave's site - but never stopped in before. Obviously, I haven't left since!
I'm so grateful to Diana Grundman (wantabegardner) who sent me my first cuttings last fall and got me started. I'm definitely smitten now.

Hi Alice i know what you mean the one of have posted today in a pot all my neighbors stop and say what is that plant where i live even the nurseries do not carry them except for on about 25 miles away. Bob
When I first read the title of this post, I jumped to conclusions. I thought, "Oh!, no". I thought you were going to say that your neighbors were complaining and trying to get your brugs banned from the neighborhood in the same manner some have banned owning pitbulls. Am glad its not the case. If someone was as daring as to ask you, they really must be plant people. Did you tell them they needed to be overwintered inside?? Some people just don't want to bother with that. Also, did you tell them they were very toxic and one needs to be careful with them around kids & pets, etc.?? Just curious. I'm sure you got many more interested and not brave enough to ask. Perhaps this will give you a chance to meet & make friends with other gardeners in you area. How fun!

They look great Alice!!! How proud you must be... altho, I think I would be posting a note on the door that says "The beautiful tree with the trumpet shaped flowers are Brugmansias A.K.A. Angel Trumpets" LOL I dont think I would take to kindly to someone waking me up.
They look great!!
looking great.
I'd be stopping to ask too....they look beautiful!
Looks beautiful Alice.
LOL Alice. I'm glad they did so well for you. So ... are all the strangers coming back for cuttings this fall?
What is the tall deep red in back of thewm?
Thanks you again so much for all of your nice compliments!
I had another one pounding on my door this afternoon when I was actually trying to take a nap.
This morning I was up and about, I just wasn't ready for company!!
Root the red in the background are fireball hibiscus, which I think are gorgeous.
