a miraculous flush has occured on the chilly Canadian prairies........(in the porch to be exact)!! ;)
and it smells soooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooood!! :D
Nothing fancy but considering the summer we had.........
Now you know why we love them so,you could love them in the dark, please give it a sniff for me!
Hey rootdoc :D
I won't have to work to hard for that.........
trust me...........the whole house is infused with it's scent!! ;D
DD is wondering if a perfume has been made with it yet!?!
Looking pretty fancy to me! Lucky you! Better late then never!
If you could make candle with the scent, you would be rich!Much less a perfume,it would drive a Brug nut like me wild!
Thanks Kell! All my poor named ones (many are good sized trees) prob. won't bloom till Christmas.......really stinks when I couldn't put them out till after July 15th. :'(
I like that idea Doc........a candle would be perfect!!
Congratulations on the blooms!
Looks great Lilypon! You are doing so good with your tropicals and such WAY UP THERE!
Move south, Pam. You would get two or three flushes in the summer. She is pretty. What's her name? I hope you didn't wake up this morning with a headache.
Thanks Shelly, weeds and Brugie!
Brugie we opened the door to let the scent in for a little while, but then I remembered how it effects me and quickly closed it. I love it outside but inside it's toooooooo much! ;)
I don't know the name of this one...or if it has a name, I picked it up in Regina and it's tag just said yellow Brugmansia.
I would love to move to where I could get three flushes!!!
Great job Lilypon, it's gorgeous!
Hi Llilpon pretty brug i love the smell but when i brought my brugs down cellar and their were plent of blosoms i did get a headache and could not be downstairs too long until they got through blooming. Bob
They are pretty! I can never get enough of the fragrance lol
Thank you BrugAddict, drummat and Monika! I would love to have one with long tendrils etc. but when any Brug is having a flush it is such a feast for the eyes! :D
Sounds like we are a lot alike drummat.......I get an awful sinus headache when they are inside. The porch is ok but when they are all the way in I have to remove the blossoms. :( But when they are outside I love the scent and so do *all* the neighbors!!!! ;D

It looks beautiful
Especially way up north!
Thanks CC! ;) This summer was soooo short and cool I'd almost swear my garden was up in Alaska.........actually the weather we got was pushed down from there.
Next year I want an EARLY summer..........mid April would be very nice!
Gosh, I'd even take mid April here in Iowa. LOL! For your sake, I hope you get it.
Thanks Brugie......actually two years ago it was almost exactly like that here. We had temps in the eighties for the end of April, and most of May and June. Night temps were above freezing and really almost warm that spring. I put my water lilies out in the beginning of April and the tropicals were out at the end. I don't think any of us want a repeat of this miserable summer......except maybe Weezingreens (if she has the right plants planted)! ;)
It looks wonderful Pam. You must be the tropical expert in town. Do you belong to a garden club? You could scare the heck out of them with your "no grow plants".
This is an el nino year, maybe winter will be kind to you.
That is a wonderful thought Liz......I really, really hope we have a winter that doesn't get colder than -25 F......but without a ton of snow too!
I am truly amazed with what tropicals can accomplish with less than ideal conditions.....but would kill to have that perfect long summer to see them, in person, at their best! Oh what a dreamer am I ;)
Hey,I'd be happy with a winter like that too......
Well, not happy ....but hope its not worse than the last few......
I'm so happy you were able to see some blooms before your zone 3 (cringe) winter sets in. It is just beautiful.
I bet you would CC...if I remember your area got a ton of snow last winter!! The only great thing about -52C (way too cold F) is there is no snow to shovel (not too great for the perennial plants tho').
Thanks datdog so am I!! The young rooted cuttings (above the Y) are so much quicker to bloom than the large ones I've overwintered for a number of years...prob because their growing tips suffer such a die back.
The Moose Jaw Miracle! It is lovely, Lilypon and must be satisfying for you after this summer. Next year will be better.
I really, really, really hope so!! Thanks Sunrize!! :)
Looks fabulous Pam. It is really loaded down with blooms.
Hi Donna......it has been a real treat and being that it is so cool here they still look as fresh as the day they opened. :D
It looks beautiful Lilypon. What a pretty site.
Oh Lilypon, I hadn't seen this till today. I'm so exciting for you!
I know just how you feel having your first flush (and what a gorgeous one at that)
The Polar Bear Society must be oh so proud of you. hehehehehehe
Oh Pam I am so happy for you. So glad you got some blooms, I see the weather is beginning to get cool up you way already. Sure wish yall had more time to enjoy the flowers this year befor the frost shows up. But like root says sniff away while you can......
:o)
Dee
Thanks Waterloolily, RikerBear and WillowWasp! Thankfully we have a couple of porches that will buy us some extra time...noticed the Geese are now flying in V formation and heading South (it may be another early and long winter). :( sigh
I heard and saw geese flying yesterday. That wasn't something I was wanting to happen just yet.
I can imagine.....with your collection Brugie that sight must have been downright scary! p.s. make sure you take some cuttings from your new beauties....I think you would hear a gasp across N. America if Jack Frost made a surprise early visit to your yard! :S
