I feel like I haven't posted much this summer. I KNOW I told you all about the new grandbaby, but there's also a new pup - grandson of the late, lamented Ned. Tim is turning out to be quite the dog. He's a little younger than Jake, but HE gets to go out and run around barefooted in the grass. He has developed a good "Hey you cows, go where you're supposed to" bark, and is quite the guy. One of Ned's goofiest habits was burying the milk dish in hay every night. Well, guess what Tim's started doing??? Silly dog, I didn't think that specific habits were genetic. He also seems to have his granddog's grin. We were hoping he would, as his mother has it, too.
Hmm, let's see, new grandson, new pup, new computer (Dell), new sewing machine, (Bernina), today, we're getting a new roof. I just fed 4 young Amishmen, their "English" partner, our hired boy, Stan's brother and Stan, lunch. They pretty much demolished a cold beef roast, half a pound of deli ham, two packages of cheese, a dozen and a half fresh rolls and a 5 pound potato salad, half a batch of brownies, and half a big apple crisp. Aaron, who's a bit of a comedien said he'd have to wait an hour before going up on the roof. These are our neighbor's boys and we've watched them grow up and hired them on and off over the years. They had the old roof stripped and the felt down before lunch. Daniel said if I kept feeding them that good, they'd have to come back tomorrow. I told him, if they come back tomorrow, I'd have to go buy groceries!
