Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender'
Plectranthus
The late flowering habit is very gratifying...a great plant!
Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender'
Toxi, is this one of my plant's children? If so, it sure grew! Beautiful photo.
Beautiful plant! Mine has been blooming since May. Thank you htop for introducing it to me.
You are quite welcome. When I first bought mine, I had no idea what it was and after hours of searching found only 2 or 3 sites on the net that had information about it. Now, 2 or so years later it and information about it are readily available. I have seen it featured as plant of the week, plant of the month and even plant of the year. It is a wondeful plant and has been quite a dependable bloomer. The best things are that it requires very little care and it can easily be propagated by cuttings. I am glad you are enjoying yours. :o)
Yes, Hazel, this is one of your children...all the cuttings you sent rooted and then I gave them a pinch in June. Actually, they are in a rather shallow planter. I did not expect them to do so well, either! I have another piece blooming elsewhere (smaller) that I rooted in June. The plant was in too much sun at first, which made the leaves a lighter green that did not complement the purple undertones and undersides. After I moved it to more shade it got very attractive. Thanks again so much for sharing this wonderful plant with me!
Here she is, the beast. I had to move her to a 5 gal pot-she got so big so quickly. This plant is a bloooming fool. Her spot in the garden is not yet finished. She was in a 6" pot about a year ago and that does not count what has been trimmed to share. I need to move her in a bit, getting too much sun where she is on the patio now. I looked very hard for her last year and they are all over this year. (Mostly missnamed however.)
Frogs, you've got a lot of plant in that pot!
I think I am going to plant some in the ground next year with my ferns and hostas.
Toxi, I am delighted that the cuttings took. You did a good job with them. I don't know if they are root hardy in your zone if they are in the ground. I know that they will freeze back.
frogsrus, thanks for sharing the photo of your beautiful plant.
LOL, no I did not mean to put them out for the winter...just some extra cuttings like annuals. Have you tried any like that yet?
Ooooh. Silly me. I haven't done that before. What a great idea.
