Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Not a very good photo. Should have taken it from the side and it would have shown the hight of the bloom. It was 100* in the hot house and I was in a hurry to gt out.

Would it be best to wait until Spring? To let them grow?

Daytona Beach, FL

Wait til the pups are 1/3rd the size of the parent plant before cutting them/ separating them off. Bilbergia pyramidalis 'Kyoto' was originally intorduced at the Kyoto International Flower Show in 1968, and the original plant sold the same year for around $5000.-It is one of the variegated forms which can NOT be tissue cultured. If you want your plants to make more pups, then separate them to individual plants, and cut the leaves back 1/3rd to 1/half way. It stresses them, makes them look like the underworld warmed over, but they produce many more pups than if they were left alone. HTH

How do you make banana trees have more pups? Mine is about 4 feet tall. Is it just to little?
Thanks

Thank you very much for this information, Dyckia, That is the first time that I have ever heard that. They sure grow slow like they are.

Beautiful plant. Nifty photo, looks a bit like one of Palmbob's paintings down lower in this forum. Must've been the model for it.
