These Babiana and Tritonia bulbs (no species names) are winter-growing, which means they start growing in the fall around October-November. The leaves grow through the winter and as spring approaches the flower buds are produced. These flower around April-May here in Northern California. Once the rains stop they go dormant. If you want to grow them, you must follow their life cycle. Place them in a sunny area with good air circulation. Start watering in fall, water through winter, and stop in late spring when plants show signs of going dormant. They prefer no water during their summer dormancy. They are drought tolerant and should take temperatures down to about 25F. They must have well-drained potting soil, and if grown in pots they do best in large pots (1 gallon or larger)., Well-drained means you must add to regular potting soil some small lava rock, pumice, perlite, or sand. I use 50% potting soil and 50% pumice. Babianas and Tritonias can also be planted in the garden if in well-drained soil and temperatures do not go below 25F.
The pictures in the below links are similar to the flowers you will get from these bulbs. You might also get some white flowers from the Babianas, and the Tritonia flowers are somewhat paler than the flowers in the picture.
