Im sure its not SB, as there are no dark circles anywhere. I did neglect this poor thing something awful. The areas are raised and callused, but small. I just want to be sure its not something that can be transfered to anyones collection.
Before I send this out....
Shelly, I had a seedling that grew like this and I'm going to toss it. It has never grown right and not pretty. I've watched it all summer, away from the other brugs, and it doesn't seem to get better. Was yours a seedling or cutting? I had never seen anything like this before and sent pictures to Monika. She said it wasn't SB, just to watch and see what it did. It never got worse, but didn't get better either.
It was a rooted cutting. It was in WAY too much shade for sure, and earlier in the year the pincher bugs had a field day with her. It was away from everything else, but I really REALLY do not want to send out something bad... maybe I will just offer something else.
She didnt grow at ALL.. not one inch, but I kinda blamed that on the shade, and her being in the ground.
I think you are smart to not give her away. Especially since she didn't grow or perform for you. Mine is in full sun and is still growing, but not worth taking a chance with. Brugs will grow in tree shade. I have some that get mostly shade and they are doing well. I have one that is in shade all the time and it is doing great. Much better than the one I had last year that got a little sun. It is an Arborea though, and they don't like the heat very well.
Thanks Shirley. I will compost her.
How does the top growth look, Shelly? Can you try rooting any that looks good? Is this Becca Lynn?
Looks somewhat like too much humidy, or moisture around the stem??
The top looks the same Hibiscus, it really did not grow one inch. The leaves were small, and never got to be more than 4x3 inches. Definately not too much humidity, we dont get above 40% here, and if anything lack of moisture, it was neglected in many more ways than one.
Its not BL, she is blooming her little head off at my parents right now. As soon as she is done, she is yours. I promise.
Bless you, Shelly.
Do you think anything might have gotten into the roots of that one?
They looked ok this morning when I pulled it out of the ground.
Beats me.......
