Pinkmond

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

This is the second flush for this seedling. I call it Pinkmond for it is a cross between PB and Rosamond. I really like it.

It has a better pink than Rosamond here and I love how the tendrils seem to dance around the skirt.

Another one of Susie's!

I may plant it in the ground to see if it takes off like Rosemond does.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

What a beauty Kell! Congrats to you and Susie. Love the first photo!!!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

That is really a beautiful shade, Congrats to the both of you Kell & Susie. She's gorgeous!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Another great pink. Will we work more on yellows next year? I can't think that there will be many pinks that haven't already been done left for another year. LOL! I love pink, but yellow is such a cheery color. Back to pinks, I sure hope that people will only name the best of the best. It is great to keep a special one or two in your collection because it was your first or it was a friends seed, etc. but we really do need to watch naming each and every one. Before long there will be ten thousand brugs and 9,850 of them will be look alikes. This comment is made in general and not intended to be directed at any one person. Just something to seriously think about. Kell, she is pretty.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Brugie!!! I am not sure how to take that!

No really, I agree. I have not registered any of mine at all at ABADS or entered any into the Dave''s database.

I am waiting for 2 years and then only 1 or 2 may get into the public domain. However, this one I am using to put lots of darker pink pollen on. I really like the form. I give them nicknames to keep them straight for me. I tried to give them just numbers but I could never remember them.

The only good yellowish one I grew is the seed from you. It only bloomed once. I wish it would do it again so I could tell if I really did love it.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

It's pink, what can I say, I'm in love!!! If someone has an ugly pink, I'd love to see it, truly I do not recall ever seeing one. The reason I'm so nutz for pink is because, I grew up in a pink house, I had a pink room, the pool deck was pink, my wedding color was pink, yada, yada. My son is the same way about green - I guess we just have a strong color gene, ya think??!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gosh, for a minute there Sherry, I thought you were going to say your son was pink also!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Looks great!!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

LOL, Kell!! The reason that's so funny is because that's the truth he was PINK when he was born!! VERY blond, with the bluest of blue eyes and a beautiful pink, from head to toe...

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its beautiful Kell....

and Shirley
I know what you're saying about the pinks
Its getting very hard to tell the difference between many of the brugs that are pink
I'll bet we can post pictures of 10 of them and they would all be looking so alike no one could tell which is which

I now have a seedling(one of Susie's) and I'm in love with it....
but am I going to name it?
probably not
Is Susie?
highly unlikely

It looks so much like many of the others that are out there that it would be a shame to release it under a name
If it later takes on characteristics that makes it stand out in a crowd then I will discuss it with Susie and go from there
for now,I will just keep it around cause I like it
Maybe use it in some crosses
( Just because it doesn't have a name doesn't make it undesirable or the offspring mutts)
Its the genes that count

I think everyone should think long and hard before naming every seedling that that have
If you put it up against Named Brugs that are similar is yours going to stand out?
Can the general public pick your wannabe named brug out of a crowd of similar brugs?
I'm not just talking the flower shape and color, but leaf shape ,texture?
how does it stand up to heat, damp, cold, wind pests??????
How often does it bloom?
These things take time to find out and please.....take that time
Give it a pet name for yourself and stop the urge to register it until its been proven worthy
am I babbling.....LOL

this is one of Susies seedlings
its EP X Butterfly
But can you tell its different from PB or many of the others out there?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I agree with you both, Brugie and CC. One of the problems is, that the same crosses are repeated over and over again.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Brugie & CC ........... Ditto 100%

I can't begin to tell you how strongly I feel on this subject.

Soooo , shut my mouth , y'all done good.

Now I gotta think of a 'pet' name for Ol' Yeller ........ Hmmmm ? ? ?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I feel like I've been naughty because I like pink and that I have crashed a private party. My face is pink. Ooooops, I did it again, I'll go to my room now.

Syracuse, NY

Nice pink Kell but i get confused i have adora and it looks just like FP. Bob

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Karyn: Yours' is a beauty also. I too am crossing B x EP and EP x B, sooo..................If it's good, I'll keep it. Never give it a name, just will be mine!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Hibiscus, shhhhhhhhhhh (I'm supposed to be in my room) - you are my kinda girl, I'm sure I would LOVE B X EP, and or, EP X B, I cannot imagine the differences and I'd love to see. Boy, do my EPs love where they live...

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Kell, we sure went pink crazy last year didn't we? I hope I've kept enough yellows to work with. I've been thinning out the brugs this year(some not intentionally, lol). I have the yellow one from you and I'm hoping it will bloom this fall now that our weather has cooled down and the rains have started. I thought it was pretty.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'd like to see a deep orange with the shape of some of these pinks...

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Wow Susie sure hit the Jack Pot in pretty Pinks this year. Congrats

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

There is nothing wrong with pink Sherry. We all like it. I'm keeping a yellow from Susie and one from Kell, and you aren't going to believe this, but I'm actually keeping a white from Kell. Me, who doesn't care for a lot of white. I think I've only got one pink from Susie, tagged to keep this year. That is out of about 75 seedlings. I will be keeping Monika's seedlings because most of them haven't bloomed.

I forgot to say, that even tho I'm keeping them this year, I may not keep them next year. Our summer was one that didn't get hot enough to be normal, so this year's seedlings didn't really go through a good test.

Oooops!! Thanks, Shirley, I forgot to watch this thread and I just read your post. Brugs seem to be similar to Golden Retrievers - there are always strong differences re temperament, size, movement, etc, AND color. I just never expected brugs to be so similar to Goldens, whew!! If you decide to toss your white from Kell, my arms are open wide. You are a sweetie, Brugie, I appreciate your encouragement, if not for you, I'd never have joined DG, and what a delight it is!!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

"Pinkmond" is a beauty! Congratulations to you and Susie!!

I totally agree with Brugie and CC. It is becoming more and more difficult to tell the difference between some of these Brugs. Since this is my second season for growing Brugs, I'll need to begin to cull (weed out) or give away some varieties that are so similar. Always have to make more room for newer varieties which are becoming available.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Sherry. Watch out for your brugs. If they are similar to your dogs and start to bark you may have a whole new hybrid. LOL!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

There ain't no flies on you, Brugie, gosh, that's funny!! Come to SherryLand: big, red, barking brugs!!!! Where else but Arky, ya know!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I for one, have only done pink hybridizing this year. Yellow and orange though appreciated, do not ring my bell! LOL I want a huge, fat, curly Q, girlie girl, dark, true pink! I want a Pink Queen in my garden!! LOL And that will be the name of her when I find her!!

So pray tell Sherry, how did Brugie encourage you to join Dave's? You know she got me to join Dave's also as I recall. She has regretted it ever since. LOL
