How can you tell the difference...

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Between canna Striped Beauty and Bengal Tiger. I have received both in trades and now that I've moved my garden, I can't tell one from the other.

Can you tell?

well BT to me seems to be more of a yellow/green color and SB seems to be more dark green. besides that. the bloom is also a dead give away.
what gets me is the 50 names striped beauty has.... I think I have bought one of each....I keep telling my self DUHHH!

Thanks Ely, now when they do bloom, what color is the BT and what color is the SB?

BTW, some of them green and yellow striped cannas have bloomed, just not at the same time to notice the difference in color. Guess I wasn't paying attention, but I will from now on.

Thanks Ely,

I will be out taking a closer look when the sun is up better today.

I've ordered from Horn's this past year. I really went over board on that purchase, had to give some to the neighbor cuz I ran out of room.

Imagine this, 4 days after moving the cannas from the old garden to the new, looky what's blooming. This would be the Bengal right?

What a nice treat.

Thanks Ely,

Now, I've looked at the leaves on all these yellow/green striped cannas. They look the same as far as the variagation. I am supposed to have at least one Striped Beauty. So, now I wait for some more to bloom. (Aside from the hurricanes) I am sure glad I live down here in Florida, cause they will be blooming all winter. (And mulitlpying and multiplying, by spring I will have plenty to trade I'll bet)

Now on to another canna. I just love the flowers on this one, so bright and colorful.

I am so amazed that these plants were not phased at all by being yanked out of their nice little bed, transported in a bucket of water and replanted.

I wasn't going to take all of the cannas because I went overboard on my purchases this spring, but they seem to like me so much, how could I leave any of them behind? I gotta go back and get those last three today.
