Several seedlings of the above mentioned hybrids have buds. The two Natascha seedlings are doubles. I couldnt resist. I had to take a peak into a bud lol. Last year, I had send seeds out of the same cross to a BGI member. Maybe she is happy to know, that the first two Natascha seedlings are doubles. This is a good result.
This picture shows one of the seedlings. The leaves are thick and pubescent. I like this on a brug. If the bloom is so pretty like its leaves, it will be a keeper.
Natascha and Luminosa seedlings
Love the foliage Monika, anxious to see the blooms.
Beautiful brug Monika! So who is the lucky BGI member? Maybe she will share the doubles she gets from your seeds with us. Wish wish. You are so nice to share your seeds!
Can't wait for this to open. You did great getting these budded with the horrible summer you had.
PS can you post pics of both brugs, Monika? What would you think the seedlings will look like? Double yellow or orange?
I sure wish you had more summer left. Will you keep these in the greenhouse until they bloom? Can't wait to see what they look like.
How exciting! Who's the lucky duck that got the seeds? Just so we can all form the begging line.
Nice leaves, cute bud.
I will post pictures tomorrow, when the batteries of my camera are loaded again.
Shirley, I have to keep them in the Greenhouse because I am anxious to see them bloom. I dont want to wait until next year lol.
They should be either cream, yellow or apricot. The pollinator was Apricot Queen and Nataschas flowers have a tinge of yellow/apricot color in the summer.
Will cross my fingers that they are just what you want.
Oh gosh! How wonderful! And to think the siblings of the doubles are here in the US! Thats just awesome. I too cant wait to see more pictures Monika!
Can you imagine what cuttings of this cross would go for on ebay?? lol hundreds!!
Crossing fingers here .... so exciting!! Love the looks of the leaves in the first photo.
Darn, that would make me physically ill to have to cut those branches off while so loaded with blooms.
YEAH......
I' d be crying.........
Especially Baby Bolero!
Love the color of the plant. Can't wait for you to see it bloom.
Oh my goodness- it's cutting time already? I wish I could extend your growing season. It's so sad... I'll be wishing you some warm days.
I looked at Blütenzauber today. SIGH!!! She is loaded with buds again. Kristi, it appears to me, that summer had just started but not ended!
I love the leaves and stems of the seedling. When enlarged, I can see all the fuzz which makes it look like velvet. I can't wait t see the bloom on this one.
Will you keep all those cuttings in the bucket through winter and then pot up in spring? What is the lowest you let your temps get in your greenhouse that holds the cuttings in containers of water?
Nanny, I keep the cutting material in the buckets until I have finished the cutback and all brugs are stored in the winter greenhouse. Then I cut the branches in handy sized cuttings and stick them in clean jars and place them in the propagation beds.
I keep the winterhouse frost free. The lowest temperature may be 3°C (when the nights are very cold) but mostly appr. 8 - 10°C. B. versicolor and other natural wild forms require higher temperatures. I rooting them in a bundle in 16cm square pots in soil on a heat mat.
Wow Monika. You have done it again. A new double. Congrats.
Thanks Donna. The buds grow very slow at this time of the year.
I think you have done an amazing job with what little growing time you had this year. Shucks, any year but this year seemed worse. How much time did you have Monika?
You are truly the Brugmansia Master of Dave's! Our Brug Sensei!
Kell, this year,I had appr. 2 1/2 months of growing season.
Congrats Monika. I love the leaves on that seedling. It's hard to imagine only 2 1/2 months growing season. Just when things are going really good, it's time to bring them in.
