Opera installation on Mac

I'm in the midst of trying to switch from PC to Mac,neither of which do I know much about.Opera is supposed to be pretty good, but it keeps asking for passwords and saying it doesn't recognize my user name or the pass words and doesn't seem to want to reply with my information.I ordered a 'backup' disc too,which should arrive soon (packed in Lutefisk?) Should I just uninstall what I have and wait for the disc?Any suggestions?
