For the first time, I have seeds on my red Torch Ginger/Nicolaia elatior...but don't know when they will be ripe. Anyone out there know how to tell when they are ripe...and...anyone want some? Looked the name up in Tropica...I always thought it was called something else botanically.

No...ely...Etlingera altho Tropica says it is Nicolaia elatior (Mr. Graf often goofed).
oh ewwww, those are only hadry to places like HI, lucky you...makes me think of that movie 51st dates. all those gingers around the house. I have an alpina that is called red torch "don't think that is its name though....., didn't GH it las year so it didn't bloom.
