Experiment Started

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Following a thread on the Brug forum - and a statement made on this forum as well - I have just ordered Messenger. I am going to experiment on some of my NOIDs which haven't bloomed yet, to see if I can get blooms going!!! Will keep you all updated on the progress.

The Link is www.edenbio.com Sounds like an interesting product!

We will see. The thought of my hoyas on "steroids" is terrifying...waking up in the night with the house overgrown with H. lacunosa. OH well, worse things could happen...and it would smell good.

I talked to them today and learned that there are no adverse effects when the treatment is stopped...the plant just goes back it its normal pace of photosynthesizing.

Got mine last Friday, so of course I tried it first thing Saturday morning. It sure doesn't hurt. I've seen new peduncles on three different plants since then. Of course it's too soon for this to be the result of Messenger, but I have noticed everything seems to look a little better. Maybe it's my imagination, or something else I'm using, or just the time of year, or they just would have looked healthy anyway.... I'm glad to see you're doing a controlled experiment, Carol. Looking forward to hearing about your results.

Carol, thanks for the reminder regarding this product. I read something a while back but didn't think it was for me. I went back and read the posts which gave alot more info on the product that I had wanted to know about. It sounds like a miracle in a bottle but I too am anxious to try it. I ordered mine Friday so I'll give it a try once I get my plants ready for the winter. I look forward to reading your experiences w/ it.

This weather has been pretty crazy and since I don't want to get caught doing this at the last minute, I'll be cleaning my plants & spraying them w/ Cygon. I usually take them outdoors early in the morning. Spray the heck out of them w/ the garden hose and let them dry off a bit. Then spray w/ Cygon and put them all in the garage. I let them air out for 24 hrs. cause I don't like the Cygon smell and since my DH will be out of town, this will work out well. Then inside they go for the winter. I bought more plant lights and of course acquired more plants so I've got alot of arranging to do. This is time consuming but I enjoy it. I also plan to run my own little experiment w/ the extra hoyas and Messanger. I plan to pot two of the same Hoya in separate pots, etc. Then one will get sprayed with Messanger and the other not. I plan to grow them side by side and treat them with the same amount of water, fertilizer & light and see the differance that Messager does on indoor plants. I have several hoyas that have done absolutely nothing for over a year. I'm anxious to see how they react to their new boost.
