Oh I just love these little plants.
What a lovely photo too. You've captured all the furry hairs on the leaves and 'catkin'!!

They certainly are sweet, aren't they. This one was in a container in Ceead's garden this summer. She collects all kinds of wild greenies.

I was so impressed on a trip years ago up the coast of Norway and across to Svalbard. As you go north it's like going up a mountain. The trees get smaller and smaller and then disappear altogether. Being replaced by plants like this little chap
Never realised that before

When the going gets tough, the tough get shorter... compare the North and South Koreans.

Oh LOL as usual Weez ;oD

So only tiny people live on mountain tops? *G*

All information I found on the net indicates that the Arctic willow is a plant which resembles the weeping willow but without the weeping part. This plant grows about 6 ft. and its leaves are bluish green. Am I mistaken?

fgomezclones, here is another link to Salix arctica that shows the plant much like my photo: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.elliott.family.name/alaska2000/d_arctic_willow.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.elliott.family.name/alaska2000/d_arctic_willow.htm&h=338&w=450&sz=45&tbnid=h0Il9ovbmZcJ:&tbnh=93&tbnw=123&start=8&prev=/images%3Fq%3Darctic%2Bwillow%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26safe%3Doff There are about 30 varieties of shrubby willows that grow in Alaska. Moose love to snack on them.
