any interest in a surprise box of gessies for postage?

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

Well, to celebrate this new forum, and to make room for the orchids that will have to come in when the temperatures drop, I am offering boxes of random gessies for priority mail postage. I can't guarantee what the contents will be, so this is probably best for newbies. My best guess is that it will be 5 or 6 plants including 1 unnamed standard size AV (have to get rid of these) and a random selection from mini AVs, episcias, chirita tamiana, nematanthus wettsteinii, streptocarpus and sinningia speciosa (aka florist's gloxinia). They will all be babies or rooted cuttings.

If you're interested, please raise your hand (post here) and we'll talk details later. I would want to ship these at the end of the month/early October. U.S. people only please.

Update Sept. 6, 2004, 9:45pm: Nice to see some interest. I did a rough count and I think I have enough for at least 10 boxes. Keep 'em coming.....

Update Sept. 9, 2004: This offer is now closed as there are 10 people signed up. I'll post again if I have some left over.

Hello Keyring... it was like Christmas here yesterday!! My Box of plants arrived safe and sound. You took great care in packing the plants... they are all in perfect shape!! I want to thank you as this will give me a chance to grow some plants that I am unable to find here in my area.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

KeyRing,

Those are beautiful little plants, if you have any leftovers? I'm a newby to these little babies, I promise I will take care of them.

Glad to hear they are arriving ok. By the way, I only propagate unnamed plants if they are good growers and I like them. For eg, the unnamed standard size AV is one of only 2 that I grow at this point.

Molly - I sent you mail.

I'm thinking the next batch of shipping will be in a week or two.

Keyring,

Those are beautiful! If you decide to do more, I would love to get a surprise box... I have not tried AV's yet. I am new to DG's and while I have grown vegetable gardens and a few flowers.. I am just now really getting into gardening. It is so addictive. lol

Blessings,

Starr

keyring-
I received your package on Saturday. The plants are great.
My kids really like the really, really small minatures. They are in a place of honor...in a terrarium on the desk.
Thanks again.

Kyoko,

WOW-I got my babies today. They were packed great and arrived in wonderful condition. I can't believe how nice they were. I feel guilty taking such great plantlets for postage only.
Thank you so much.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Kyoko,

I received mine just a few minutes ago. They were packaged wonderfully. You put in painstaking effort for these.

Thank you so much for sharing!!!!

hi - thanks for posting them!

I know my writing was terrible on those, so here are some ID adjustments:
first one is Chirita tamiana
second one is Episcia Strawberry Patch
third one - did I really send that one to you? I don't recognize it. .. but then leaves can look REALLY different in different growing conditions...
fourth one - correct
