Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm bad about removing tags when I think things are dead, this one came back too, got it off ebay, last winter, one of 7 gingers in an auction, I think this is bamboo ginger, It was one that I thought I lost and then came back, does anybody know if I"m right?

Looks to me like a Costus...or perhaps Tapeinochilus annassase (syn. Queenslandia)...just a guess.

It's a costus. Which one?? Hard to tell until it blooms, maybe someone else could tell from the foliage. Is the underside fuzzy???

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

no, underside isn't fuzzy, I'm pretty sure baylove called this the bamboo ginger, he's the guy I got it from. along with the other ginger, both Ithought died, but came back, Learned a lesson on removing tags before I really think they are dead. LOL. I suppose this one is too small to bloom still. not really sure on that. Thanks so much for solving the other one janet

Glad I could help.
I'm kinda not sold on the bamboo ginger on this one, although it may have been sold/traded to you as such. The leaves are trying to spiral like members of the costus family. The leaves on the bamboo ginger are more slender, as well, so those two things make me believe that it is not a bamboo ginger. If and when it blooms, please post a picture, by the way the ginger blooms at the base of the stalks.
Keep us posted.
Janet
