What opinions do y'all have about these machines and starting brugs?
I am wondering if it would be easier than how most people do it now.....

I guess if I were rolling in the $$ I might go for something like this, but most brugs are so easy to get started that I'm not sure it would be worth the money.
I have to agree with Brugie. On August 29th we had a bad wind storm that snapped one of my seedlings that hasn't bloomed. Its one that's a special cross that I really want to see, so I cut up the 3' section that snapped off and put a small piece (horizontally, log style) in 7 pots with dampened potting soil, buried about 3/4 of the way. I placed the pots in zip-lock bags, and sealed them. Within a couple of days two had sprouts, and now I have seven of these little seedlings. I sure hope they turn out to be pretty... Anyway my point is, that brugs are so easy to get started, even dead looking sticks in January that have been mailed to you, that I wouldn't spend my money on something like that. JMHO :) Gretchen
LOL.....you two care to send me some of that rooting skill? Especially for those coming dead in the middle of winter..I have no problem getting roots, but when putting in soil, I seem to lose a lot. Wondering what I am doing wrong..
If you are rooting in water first, that may be part of your problem The roots a plant develops in water is different than those for soil. So when you move the rooted cutting from water to soil its a shock to the plant. I start them in soil. A cutting has to be kept constantly moist until the roots are established, but not wet. Its a balancing act. For me, the sealed zipper bag more closely mimics the controlled GH environment that professional nurseries use. I keep it in the shade and then once sprouted, remove from the bag and gradually harden it off by placing it in the sun a little at a time... Hope this helps. And, this time last year, I didn't know the first thing about brugs or rooting them, but I've soaked up as much as I could from this and other brug forums and tried lots of different things. This is what has worked best for me :)
