Thursday next week I'm going on a one week vacation.
The alternatives I have for my extremely shy kitty boy are the following:
1. Leave him alone in the house. A friend would come once or twice during that week to look after him.
2. I can also leave him in a friend's Vet Clinic.
The facts are:
Two years ago, Muschito was alone in the house for 19 days while I was in hospital. During that time, a friend's maid came every three days or so to add food to his dish (he did not eat very much during that time) and change his water. She also cleaned his box. At that time we were living in the mountains and I also had to leave him alone occasionally when I came to the city for 5 day courses. I drove home in the middle of the course -day 3- to check on him and spend the night at home. Although he ate less than usual (which is no harm at his 'size'), he was fine.
Muschito is extremely shy and hides every time somebody rings at our bell and only comes out of his hiding places a long time after the visitors have gone. My friend's maid never sow him nor have most of my visitors.
At my friend's clinic he would have to share a room with a pregnant kitty (due any moment) that was found 12 days ago inside a plastic bag in a trash can. This pretty baby is a beauty, but very distrustful. I suppose that once her kitten are born she will be even less friendly. Muschito does not like much other cats either.
I think the pregnant kitty needs a quiet place to give birth and raise her babies and that Muschito would seem a menace to her kitten.
On the other hand, I think my Muschito would be too stressed in an unfamiliar place (although he lived there when he was young) and having to deal with the cat-mom, hear the close-by dogs and being exposed to people he does not know.
My friend the Vet would have taken him to his house, but ....... he has a cat with feline leukemia and a lot of dogs. This makes a third alternative non-viable. I can not afford a cat hotel either.
Please let me have your opinion.
I need your advise
