Wow, bananas in Kansas. Who woulda thunk it? What kind is this one? I have no idea about the bloom, but it looks like the little buggers just keep on coming outta that thing.

Raja Puri,no they stop coming out,thats why I was wondering about cutting off the flower ,if the fruit would ripen faster.

Thanks. Hope someone can answer for you and that I'm around to read it. One day I WILL have a bloom on a banana if it kills me. LOL!

Tropicman - We cut our flowers off when it is obvious that it has finished producing nanas and there is a long "dead" space between it and the ripening/forming bananas (obviously not going to make more). Now is when our fertilizer 10-5-40 goes on...and lots of water. Important to keep the warmth up, I would think, in your area.

BTW....we judge the nanas to be ready to pick and ripen on the stalk when the ends lose their square shape and start to round off. DH gets anxious if he hasn't had nanas on his cereal and oft en cuts early...they still ripen, taste wonderfully but are just smaller.

Hope t his helps. :o}
