What did you do????

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

What do you guys do to your brugs? Mine is two+ years old and never grew much and it never flowered this year!

What are you guys feeding them and how often do you water? Anything else I should know from you experts?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What do you have it in? A pot or the ground? The bigger the pot or if in the ground, the bigger it gets.

I feed mine as often as I can! I water often for they get such a big root system they tend to dry out quickly. What kind of brug do you have? I have some like HG that does not bloom for me, but most do on there own!

Water,Feed,Water,Feed,water,Feed.LOL!
I still have some that have not bloomed for me,and I will be thinking of digging in a month.Ya just gotta hang in there.
My HG probably will not make the trip in.

Captmicha, are they getting enough sunlight and food? they do require alot of nourishment. Depending on the variety, I think the amount of sun would affect their blooming or not too. Can you move yours to a different area and see if it improves. Also have you checked the ph of your soil? Sandra

I have been moving it around SB, but it's always been in full sun. I have no idea what the name is but it's a yellow and orange one. I can't remember it so well from last summer.

I stopped feeding it b/c it ALWAYS get yellow leaves that fall off so I thought I was burning it. I'll have to start again. Is it too late in the season zone 7 to flower now?

I have it in a pretty large pot, I'll try to get a picture.

One more question. Can I plant it in the ground and lift and dry store the roots? I think it'd probably do so much better like that and it'd be one less huge pot to over winter.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't think I'd want to lug a big pot around either. Why not take a couple of cuttings right now to make sure they root before frost and then let the big plant go. Or, you could re-pot and remove 1/3 of the roots and about the same on the top. I have a feeling that your soil is depleted and your plant isn't getting enough nourishment. Just a guess. Do you let the soil dry some between waterings? Fertilizing at least once a week and in some cases twice a week is necessary if you are using soilless mix in your pot. In the ground they don't need much to get them to bloom. Also, check it for spider mites. That will cause the leaves to yellow and drop if you have a bad infestation of them. Back to winter.........Brugs cannot go completely dry, so I don't think you would have any luck storing dry roots. I have a friend that I met through DG and she told me last weekend that she had not been fertilizing very well this summer and just a few weeks ago, she started using double strength fertilizer two times a week and she said her brugs are looking great and have really grown. I know that I tend to let up on fertilizing at this time of the year and the brugs are still putting on buds and probably need something to eat. LOL!
