And it is a bit disappointing! My second though is so bad it will not even be watered again. No time will help it. LOL I hope these 2 are not a foreboding of what is to come.
I believe the other ones I have posted were second year seedlings. This is first year. I am calling it Elf and it will not live till next year unless it quick turns pink.
Kyle, if you are out there and want this for hybridizing elfin ones, let me know!! I heard thru the grapevine you had this interest. It has pink genes.
It took me by surprise I must say, when I found out yesterday.
Oh, I heard it through the grapevine.
Not much longer would you be mine.
Oh, I heard it through the grapevine.
And I'm just about to lose my mind.
My first seedling bloom of the 2004
I like it, Kell! I like the teeny ones, too. Is the plant small or is it just the flower?
I love the little flowers. Pink would be nice, but even this color, it looks great.
So sorry Kell ..... I love it!!!
It is cute but it needs to be pink for me to keep it! Ronna, the plant is in a smallish 5 gallon pot and stands about 4 feet. It may have gotten bigger if in a larger pot.
It reminds me of Antique Lace, but looks like the plant will stay smaller AND has pink genes! It's worth keeping for breeding to me, especially if it smells yummy!
Well maybe I'm weird, but I like it. I think it would make a great deck plant.
I like it too Kell!!
I like the little short fat one's too...my Jean Pasco is looking this way, is that the way they usually are? That is just too cute, I like it!
Kell...are you getting my emails?
Kell, this almost looks like a chubby sibling! But it really is cute in it's own way! I'm starting to like it! Does is smell gooooood?
I think she is darling Kell
Well thanks. Now I feel guilty! LOL! I was looking for a huge double pink here, so you can see why I would be bit shocked as well as not real thrilled. I do not think you can get much more opposite.
Yes BrugAddict, I have. I have gotten so many from everyone, I have only answered a very few. I was going to email everyone tonite but I am too tired. I spent the evening outside with a flashlight pollinating flowers before they opened up!
It's a cute little bloom, Kell.
Thats ok Kell, I'll try to be patient lol....
Kell, you mean I collect the pollen BEFORE they open up???? That makes sense now. Great, then I'll do that and see if that will work for me. When do you start to see a pod coming after you pollinate them?
I love any flower, small or large, now would you answer this question for a newbie to Bruges, what zone is it safe to put them out in the garden, and Kell I now have five little shoots showing.
Kell, did it ever pick up any pink?
Julie, you don't collect the pollen before they open unless it is nice and fluffy. What Kell was saying is that she was pollinating the flowers before they had opened up.
Kell, she looks like a little cutie to me. Of course, a double pink would have been better.
hi KELL EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT PINK I THINK IT IS BEAUTIFUL . I WOULD KEEP IT IT TOOK SO LONG TO GROW FROM A SEED IT SHOULD LIVE. GOOD WORK bOB
Put me on list of LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kell that is adorable!
I think so too Sylvia! LOL.
Good for you Kareoke! Any zone is OK if you are just leaving them out after the last frost date and bringing them in before the first frost date! LOL. But to leave in the ground all year round I think as low as zone 8 has worked, maybe a few 7s with lots of winter covering. But I would not leave them out unless they have a good root system down already so if the top dies all the way back you have a good root system to push up new growth in spring. I know I can lose them here in zone 9 if the winter is harsh enough. I always get frost burn on my leaves.
I try to catch my blooms at this stage below, within hours of it opening. I take the anthers out first then pollinate it.
thanks kell, your an angel
I think if is a precious little bloom. I really like it Kell.
