Dachshund carriers?

Once more we are starting to hunker down for the possible arrival of a hurricane (Frances). This time it looks really serious. I have a carrier that I used for the two Doxies when they were babies, but they have outgrown it. I will use it for TomKitty now. I want them to be together, but if I get one wide enough it is too tall to go under the dining room table. Do they make a carrier that is wide and low for any type of animal? There will be family coming here with dogs and cats so it is really necessary to have them all contained. My kids will be O.K., but a large visiting German Shephard will be tranqualized.
