I hid behind my morning glory and used my zoom lens to get this shot of a hummer...
My Hummer Picture
Very nice!
What a great shot! It's amazing how shots like this make the hummers look like they are just floating there effortlessly. :-)

Wonderful capture!
Get a hummer book, monte! :-D
I have been through every book and site. They change color in different light. Males are very different in color as well. I have Annas, broadtail allens and calliope and black-chinned.That seems to be all that are in my range and look like these guys. Most are the anna females. They have green backs gray- brown fronts. This is an allens I think. Here's peeking at you!
Yeow, we're eyeball to eyeball!!
Aren't they adorable? I have only seen two types at my feeders, a black chinned one with a red throat, and the one in the photo...They are very territorial of the feeders, and only once have I seen two sitting together drinking nectar - two black chinned ones.
No - maybe it wasn't black chinned one after all. I described him to a Wildbirds Unlimited employee and that is what they determined it to be. The one I see has a blacked head and green body with a red throat...I'll try to get a photo and post it.
I don't know myself I am trying to figure out what I have here.
