Missed this seedling bloom

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

This is another Susie seedling, it's butterfly x rosabelle. I just noticed it today, it must of bloomed the past couple of days when it was raining and I didn't check on her. The bloom is a beautiful dark pink. There is another bud on this seedling, should open in about a week or so. I will be watching for this one to bloom. Cathy

How in the world did you miss THAT??? That is a pretty color! More pics....

Congrats to you two!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

WOW! That's a gorgeous shade of pink/red. I love it!

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

I'm so mad at my self for not checking on this brug, it's not close to my house. I have it near my greenhouse up on the hill and it's been raining here for the past couple of days. Will get more pictures when the next one blooms. I love the color. I put it next to a L'Amour bloom and it was darker, and much darker than my Butterfly, never saw a Rosabelle bloom, I guess I'll have to look that one up to see what it looks like. Cathy

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Cathy, The color is just beautiful...Congratulations!
I know how you can miss blooms...I missed 2 blosoms until today on ecadore pink. They are the plants first blooms, too. The plant is about a foot or so tall. Until I was at an angle, away from it...I didn't notice the blosoms at all. (really they are still buds I guess you would say...but dropped and green). You can bet I will be watching constantly now. I never had a pink brug open before, only a double white! So it will be exciting for me. I will be sure to post!! Margie

I have to watch more closely, I have several with buds, but this weather is driving me crazy, rain, rain, and more rain. But this week it has warmed up, low 80's. I feel like I missed summer this year. I have 4 seedlings I want to winter over, so far, still have several that have not y'd yet, not sure what I'll do with those. Some of my seedlings are 8' tall and no y's. I bought a EP early this year, but when it bloomed it was solid white, not EP. Maybe I'll get another one next year, I love there color.

Picturelady your lucky, you caught them before they opened, I didn't think mine would open so fast, but I guess they open when there ready. Keep your camera ready. Cathy

That's pretty Cathy. I've missed blooms too. I get busy and forget to check them.

Congratulations Cathy & Susie!! What a gorgeous deep pink bloom!!! How are the leaves holding up with the wind and rain? Any bug problems? Details......details....! :~)

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Wow !! that is incredible. I am so jealous. So far all my seedlings have been a wash out .

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Most of the brug seeds that I grew this year came from Susie, I bought them off of her through ebay. And all of them have color, most of the seedlings that have bloomed so far are pink, 3 pink and 1 yellow that turned orange and one white that turned peach. I have several that have buds, can't wait for them to bloom. Susie is a great hybridizer!! I do have a couple of seedlings from poppysue, and a couple seedlings that I received seeds in seed trades. I have one more pink blooming today, it's another everlasting X rosemond but it rained all day today, I'll get some pictures of that brug tomorrow. I have really enjoyed growing brugs from seeds this year. Next year I'll have my own seeds to grow, but I won't know who the daddies are, the bee's did all the pollinating for me. I have seed pods on some of my seedlings now, the bee's have really been busy this year. Last year no pods, this year several. Cathy

Cathy, what a thrill to get such a lovely dark color. I have got to start growing some of these seeds. Just gorgeous. Jenny

Really pretty!!! I just love it and the color goes all the way up!!! It is a real pink too. I prefer that to the coral pink now I think!

Has anyone else used Rosebelle in hybridizing? I haven't used it because it is such a pale though beautiful brug. Maybe I should rethink that one! LOL

Though I have about 10 + pods I will be sharing now that must be BF X Rosebelle for they are right next to each other. Odd though, not one pod on Rosebelle.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice blooms Cathy. Susie has made some great crosses. Like Kell, I prefer the color to go all the way up the corolla tube. This one is really pretty.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Very pretty!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

She really is lovely! From you pics, it looks like you're already occupying your GH. Is it that cool in your area already?

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks everyone, no it's not cool, I put them back in the greenhouse for the next couple of days because were are supposed to get anywhere from 2-5"s of rain, the remnants of Frances. We are supposed to be getting a lot of wind also, so I thought to give me some peace of mind I took several back into the greenhouse. I didn't get them all in, just the ones I could carry myself. Larger pots are staying outside. Cathy

Very pretty, Cathy. We're getting pounded with heavy rains and winds from Francis. We keep having flood and tornado watches and warnings.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

That storm is still going strong, so much damage. Tomorrow it will hit here, and they said rain and wind for the next 2 days. Not looking forward to that. We have had to much rain here in the valley. They said if the rain goes over 5"'s our rivers will start flooding. Tornado's scare me, we don't get many here, but we have had a few that did a lot of damage. One good thing about the large brugs, they seem to do alright in storms. But I have several in 5 gallon pots and they fall over very easy, since there so tall. Cathy

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Cathy, we've had a lot of rain this year also and lots of flooding. I sure hope next year is better.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I sure hope you all will be okay. Francis has already done enough damage.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Pretty bloom and it seems that you have really enjoyed growing seeds. I hope the rain lets up for all of you who do not need it.

Mukwonago, WI(Zone 5a)

Congrats, Cathy. You sure have a pretty brug there. Susie has done so many wonderful crosses. I wonder how she goes about choosing a favorite ??? Were you able to get out to take a pic of the everlasting x rosamund ?? Sounds like next year will be really exciting for you with all your crosses?

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Growing from seed is a wonderful experience. Watching and waiting for them to bloom. Then seeing the beautiful colors the blooms are. If you have the room to grow them from seeds, give it a try, you will be impressed with what you get. Now to find the room to store them all for the winter. Hubby will only let me heat the greenhouse until the end of November, then they all have to come into the basement of my house. My laundry room will get very crowded for a couple of months. If the winter is mild he will let me heat the greenhouse mid February, but if its still cold I'll have to wait until mid March. The cost of fuel is still to high. Rain has come to an end, no tornados or high winds, just a lot of rain. Streams and creeks have flooded but the river is high but didn't go over there banks that I know of. I'll check that cross and see if it's blooming. Cathy

This bloom is still going strong this is day 5 for this bloom.
