Liz it's a Canadian T.V. program, written/produced/starring Brett Butts. He is a Saskatchewan native and comedian whose show "Corner Gas" has been ranked quite high and SomeRadiantPig watches it.

DH wasn't able to catch the Mountie's fav hiding place (one lonely bush on the bald prairie). He said they were shooting (T.V. people that is) and taking pictures was a little more difficult.

We love this show Pam!!! I think they originally thought it would just be liked in the west, but apparently ti is a big hit in the East too!!!
We hooted and laughed at the favourite hiding place-the bush!! We look forward to another season.

So do we Glenda! :) I'm so glad they make it in Rouleau.....it's kept one of our few remaining Prairie Sentinals standing and they repaved Rouleau's main street, gutted and fixed their hotel and bought all the supplies they needed, for the sets, in the town as well.

And, finally, the view that the locals see:

This is a show on the CBC? Sorry... I really need to get a life. What a view that is Pam! So flat you can see forever.

Liz, the show is actually on CTV. Last season it was on at 8 PM on Wednesday nights here in BC. Apparently, you can also find it on the Comedy Network. You must check it out!!!

Thanks Lily, makes me feel special to have my name posted at the top of the thread. Not only am I an easterner, GASP! I'm an American. By the way, I tape Canadian Idol for freinds at work, its obvious your show is better, the singers, the judges, you have Ben Mulroney, we have an idiot speaking at a 13 y/o level named Ryan Seacrest. Thanks again Lily.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL...I *had* to put that in (Easterner's that is)......for those that haven't watched the show the locals were very worried about this Eastern newcomer that had bought out *their* cafe. What would she do to it???

Someradiantpig you are very welcome! :) We are very happy to have an American *gasp* come and visit. ;) Some even move here...like the couple at the top of my block. We were talking about it one day and they said they weren't even draft dodgers and had taken out a Canadian Citizenship to boot!

p.s. Please vote Theresa Sokyrka on Canadian Idol. She's from Saskatchewan and originally a Moose Jaw girl.

Hey Liz............hi! That's why Saskatchewan and Montana are called Big Sky Country!..........Beautiful photos. Pam..................hpy gdning all.........Elaine

Liz you are right it certainly goes on forever.... I love it when we go to the farm and are able to see the wonderful sunrises and sunsets and hear only the sound of the wind through the grain and those produced by mother nature. Can't forget stargazing......lying down on the ground in the farmyard and eyeing the blackest and most brilliant heavens.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

It sounds heavenly Pam.
Hi Elaine

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Pam, some of the things I miss living when in city:

Stargazing, in a huge open sky.

Listening to the night, the crickets, frogs, birds, the breeze, animals in the distance.

Knowing your neighbors, well.

Things I dislike about living in a city:

Noise! Hearing my neighbors music in his car, a block away before he comes in. :(
Sirens.
The perceived threat of home and personal security.
Lack of space.

I'm a country girl at heart.

Linda in Victoria BC.

So am I! I loved the farm where my Grandmother was raised (now gone)...a huge old farmhouse with a closed in deck, with hills, valleys, ponds and a lake nearby to explore. Listening to the coyotes at night and getting up at dawn to help Uncle fill the old wood burning stove. Watching the neighbor milk his cow. Memories of the calving and discovering where the free range chickens laid their eggs. The shock of finding out what the outhouse was for....and then checking for spiders under the seat. Also discovering how worried a city kid could make a farmer when you climbed into the pig pen or wandered into the bull's pasture. The best we still see everytime we go out.....the country tradition of waving to each other as you pass on a dirt road.

Forgot the one of the most vivid memories.......vegetable gardens the size of a city block (where vegetables could actually be spaced properly), huge raspberry and strawberry patches, Saskatoon bushes and an orchard as well.

So Linda when are you coming to the prairies???

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

When is your garden at it's best??? When's the best time to come? I can't take the heat. We'll go to your place, then you guys can come to our place. Unfortunately, I won't be able to help put with any chores, my health, disappointingly, just won't let me.

How far are you from Prince Albert? I have pseudo relatives there.

Linda

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

About a five hour drive! :( The garden at my house isn't that size I was just talking about country friends' and relatives' gardens. Tho' you would be welcome here.

One of the best gardens I ever saw was just outside North Battleford. The lady who owned it grew cauliflower and cabbage to almost the size of basketballs (I'm not kidding) and won most of the red ribbons at the country fair. She raised many chickens so I think the secret was in the manure she used.

My MIL had a patch of raspberries that was the size of a city lot......when she had to sell the farm I think that patch was missed the most.

Did the blood transfusion help?

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks for posting SomeRadiantPig because my befuddled brain was trying to make a connection between Corner Gas and some character/place/episode that included a pig - radiant or otherwise.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL ;)
