Advice needed w/ dog toys

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

My last dog (Cairn Terrier) died in '96 at the age of 14. After she died I didn't have it in my heart to want another dog. Then a year later I started longing for one but was in the middle of planning my wedding and uncertain of where we'd live. THen came marriage, three kids & lots of moves. We finally felt we were ready and after much searching we got our Westie puppy. I picked him up Wednesday and went on a shopping spree to Petsmart for some last minute things. I was so overwhelmed at the amount of dog toys....its been so long since I had to buy any. The breeder suggested to me to go to a dollar store and pick up many of the dog toys they have. He had loads of those that look like small stuffed beany babies in several colors. I hesitated getting those cause with three kids & tons of toys, I didn't want the pup to get confused and chew on the kids stuffed animals. I came home with a ball & one of those knotted rope bones. Aggie prefers the rope bone over the ball but with more encouragement has played fetch with the ball. Today I noticed my DS carrying around a bright green stuffed dinosaur and Aggie got so excited but didn't dare snatch it from him. Aggie just looked at DS with hopeful eyes that he'd give him the toy but son didn't notice. The kids are being very good about keeping their toys off the floor and the pup doesn't attempt to climb on the furniture so for now they are safe there. Anyhow, I hope I've made sense of all this. Its just that I was wondering if someone who had been in the same situation give me advice as to what toys have worked out for them. TIA,
Gemila
