Thanks Sandy

Sandy this was the first bloom. Had a time getting a pic due to rain that day.

ilovejesus99 traded with me earlier in the year (either late May or June) and generously sent me two brug cuttings. These were some of my firsts in a trade and I am happy to report the pink has blooms and the white has Y'd but no blooms yet. Of course the bugs have been after the leaves like crazy but have not really sprayed anything but just dish soap and water. Sandy you're a great trader. Jenny

Bless your heart, sh1025, I'm afraid you might have an addiction!!!

You are so sweet for the kind words. I am happy they are doing so well. They were just cuttings. What are you feeding them? I want some. I can't beieve how they have grown. My cuttings a friend brought brought in 1 gallon pots are around 4 foot tall but no y's. When you told me they y'd I thought one and they have a ton.

I am extremely happy they are doing so great. The only thing that would have made it better is to be there to see your face when you first saw it opened.

I will have to come to woodville and we will go to the picket house. Is it still there.?
Makes my mouth water thinking of the fresh sassafras tea and the food is out of this world.

Blessings,
Sandy

Thanks for the compliments guys, but I have just been doing what I read on the forum (give them fertilizer). When I put them in the ground I dug a huge hole and amended with the alfalfa pelletts, humus, and then added old cow fertilizer (from the pasture around the hay ring) and osmocote. Since then I have been throwing out bag fertilizer every once in awhile. Since I have so many bugs I've also used the gallon of water, dish soap, miracle grow, and hydrogen peroxide or alcohol mixture to spray them every so often. During June and July I had time to spray every day but since school started they are lucky to get sprayed every two weeks and that is why they are so chewed up. It seems they are all just beginning to do well and now fall is coming up. Do they bloom once it gets cooler? If I can just see at least one of my white blooms before it is too late. Keep your fingers crossed.
Sandy it would be great if you could come to Woodville. Yes, the Pickett House is still here. I was out there for a dinner about the opening of the McAfee Nature Center not long ago and it is still delicious. Maybe Betty could come over from Jasper and join us. Though she has probably given up on me. I promised her some of my Tropicannas and haven't gotten them to her yet. Got to get busy this morning. Jenny

I had one last year and have 10 this year. Does that give you an idea how growing brugs can become compulsive?

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

It is an addiction. Now I always check out each nursery or garden that I visit for any brugs. Funny that I never even knew they existed until about a year ago. Now I have seven in the yard plus one cutting that I am rooting (wind broke off a branch and I could not throw it away). I'm just wondering whether to take cuttings this fall or just pray they will come back from the roots.
