kennedyh,

I would be interested in the the following for SASE:
Acacia baileyana Cootamundra Wattle
Acacia pycnantha Golden wattle
Acacia melanoxylon Blackwood

Please email me at oddginger@yahoo.com with info on where to send SASE, including how much postage you'll need. My regular email server is down, so I'm using my backup email...don't bother sending email to me through DG website email, as I never get it. As soon as my server figures out their problem with the email program, I'm going to find out what's up with the other problem.

Could I get some of your acacia seeds also? Please let me know - thank you!

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I just moved from Baytown. Did you happen to get the seeds from a tree in town? I got some from an Acacias on Baker Rd. at the carwash there by Quail Hollow...I planted a seed from one of those and could've sworn they were yellow, but my tree bloomed for the first time this week and they were WHITE! I still haven't found the name for those...

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

Sandy, is it a tree or a plant? I'm looking in the PDB to see if I can find it. I'm interested, but I need to know if it's hardy to zone 7. Problem is, most of the yellow flowered ones don't even have the zones listed. Oh well, it's still the best system I've ever seen.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

QueenB Before your post a friend and I were talking and we can't remember where we got them. No ours are yellow. The flower is in clusters and looks alot like a violet tree bloom.only larger.
I would love to see a picture of yours and the others listed here. I am still working on a picture.
One web site said there are 750 varieties of acacia and another said 900.

I is a tree, but mine is only 12 ft as I keep it pruned.

After it blooms as I prune it it will bloom again.

Still have more and more and more.....

Churchill, Victoria, Australia(Zone 10a)

According to the Flora of Australia, there are over 1500 species of Acacia with about 950 species found recognised in Australia. Apart from Australia, there are:
more than 130 species in Africa
about 100 species in Madagascar
about 270 species in the Americas
and more than 55 species in the Asdia/Pacific region.

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I found out mine isn't an Acacia at all, but rather Leucaena leucocephala. It's an invasive plant in some areas of the US, but apparently not here...Nice, fast growing tree. I hope mine doesn't freeze back to the ground like last year.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

found a picture of the one I have on ebay. Seeds are slow ripening. But there will be no shortage. It is in full bloom. I have to find a way to get pictures on here.

But Sandy, Cassia is not Acacia..that is even better for me, because I know it grows around here...

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Oh I didn't know. I just go by what people tell me they are. I love it. It is so pretty.

Sandy

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Cassia is gorgeous too, and as I say, I know it grows here, so there are no complaints from me!
