Would this work for winter protection...

Today while shopping I saw a screen house, that gets staked into the ground...I am in zone 9 and wondered if it would be a good idea to get one and cover it with plastic to use as a winter make-shift greenhouse for my brugs?
What do you think. I could put it in a corner of my property by a fence.

Margie, my eyesight is poor and, or I do not understand the photo and I would really like to know more as something similar, I think, might work in my area...my granddaughters say that the photo is too small or bright, but they also say it could be their computer. I'm 'baby sitting' this evening, so please forgive if we have made an error, whew, and LOL!!!

If you don't get a lot of winds you should be fine.
I did something similar this spring, and would have been fine if we hadn't had so many terribly windy days! My house is on a corner and very open which has caused lots of adjustments in my gardening.

I would also suggest that unless it has really good stakes with it, you purchase some good ones from the hardware store and not use what came iwith it.

In your area you want to be sure that you can lift the sides of the plastic, because I have visions of your plants frying if you don't
I was truly amazed by how warm it could get in there on days when it was only about 50 degrees.
Good luck with you project.

Sherry,
Actually the photo is just my brugs in containers in the corner of the yard where I was planning to put up the screen house and cover it with plastic. The screen house is only $24. so it seemed like a good thing to do.

aknapp...thank you, I am on a corner lot also, but this is way in the back. The extra heavy stakes sounds like an excellent idea and being able to lift the cover in the heat. We don't get too much wind...usually. I would have to find a way to keep the plastic down...maybe tied to the stakes...a very large square of it! Thank you!
