I don't have pictures, but for the first time I saw three hummers at the same time. The problem is that they were chasing eachother away from the feeders instead of sharing. It happend so fast that I didn't have my camera ready. I also saw my first male ruby throat. I usually only see females.

monteray,
That looks like a ruby! They are not supposed to be in CA. I'm going to tell the hummer police.
Monterey, you sure are getting good with Hummer pics!
SandyD, seems like I had heard that Rubies do show up in CA from time to time! Is that one a Ruby? I dunno. Somebody here at DG will know. Kennedyh, Floridian where r u?
Oh, ok. Looks similar to the ruby, smaller patch of red?
Those are all the same bird. That's what I mean by the masters of disguise.
Early Sunday morning I went out to sit by the pool/water fall and garden to read the paper and have a cup of coffee and all of the sudden I hear such a ruckus and turned around to see at least 2 dozen hummingbirds flying in and out and all around my two large firebush plants. Ran to get my camera but got caught with a phone call that lasted quite a while. Then off to Church. When we returned they were gone and have'nt seen them since. I guess they were migrating.
All the males seem to be gone from my yard. Only females fighting over the feeders and flowers now. Guess migration has started. Hope they are safe from all those hurricanes in the Gulf.
There still here.
The annas flash that red spot at you if you get close.
