I plugged the back holes so that he had to come around to the side ones.
This new feeder works!
Monterey, your hummer photos are so great. Thanks for sharing them. :-)
I have a question about feeders. If I can get my mother to actually send me one, is there a recipe for home-made nectar that I can put in it? Hummingbird nectar isn't sold here, nor are the feeders. I would like to put one in though if it will give me a chance of getting some of the local hummers to come to my garden. any feedback would be appreciated.

E-mail Magpye she makes gallons of the stuff. As to feeders, go to google.com and punch in hummingbird feeders or hummingbird feeder by mail. I got mine at Lowes see if they have one online.

Ok! Lowes online. They have ALL of it! Go to Lowes online ,then lawn and garden ,then wildlife and bird supplies, Then hummingbird feeders. They have mine and a couple that look real cool, plus nector mix etc. Check it out!
The recipe I use for nectar is 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water...I buy the superfine sugar because it disolves faster, but regular will do. I let it come to a boil for a couple of minutes, remove from heat and cool to room temperature, then store in the refrigerator. No food coloring is needed. The plants my hummers love the most are my red cypress vine, coral honeysuckle, turks cap and the salvias. Between all the plants and two feeders spaced at each end of the yard - I have a lot of them.
Thanks for the ideas Monterey and Shearpamela. :-) I'll be sure to check out Lowe's and if I can get my hands on a feeder, I'll know how to make the nector already :-)
