New Acquisition :-D

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

I picked up this variegated av at Lowes this weekend! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I've been looking for one for a while and here it is! The variegation is actually pink, but bad picture. You like?

Great Find!
I love it! One of my favorites has the variegation with the pink, white and green. I have one with pink & one with purple flowers.
Here's a growing tip for the variegated AV's, be sure to keep it a little on the cool side and give it a little more light than normal or it might loose it's variegation... I didn't know that and the first one I bought lost it's pretty markings.:(

What color is it's flower?

Flower and leaves both are beautiful .

I love it!!!Thanks for posting. Gave me a lift this morning! I'm going to head to Lowe's this afternoon. I've taken someone's advice and look thru all the av's when I visit a store because I just might find a variegated among 'em. That's a score!!

What a find! I haven't been lucky enough to find one locally yet, but I keep looking!

I just got from a Lowe's store and did not find any jewels. All their violets had brown spots all over the leaves. Oh, well, I have some lovely ones coming from Ebay wins.

Oh, I just love ebay wins.,lol..be sure to post some pics...did you get a variegated one yet ? I have some new ebay wins coming in soon too.

Yes, I got some variegated, some standard trailers, and some large violets. I already have a few of the buckeye variegated violets-just not satisfied and want more. Did you all see the auctions of 4 violets for $5.00. That seemed like a good deal. I got outbid on the ones I wanted tho.

Thank you all for the comments, it is a gorgeous plant. I am so lucky! I always do that susan, look through the av's in every store just in case- this is the first exciting find.

MsC the flower is medium pink. And thank you for that advice, I didnt know that. Wouldn't want to lose those pretty markings!!

Are the ebay auctions for leaves or well developed plants? How well do they travel?

So far of my Ebay violets, I've been really satisfied. Of course, I did get a bunch from Barbara, a violet society member and hers were excellent! They were packed really well, too!

oh, I have to tell you all about my experience at Home Depot. I just happened to go over and look at the violets and marked down was this 4 inch pot of variegated violet with only 3 leaves left. It had no price tag on it at all. So when I went to pay for it, the cashier couldn't get anyone to find the price for me, so she said I could have it. It's doing very well now and looking healthier-reminds me of AV "Tiger" if you all are familiar with that one.

Oh wow, now that's a score!! Good work :) I'm not familiar with Tiger though, you'll have to post a picture when you can.
