I guess they still like flowers. Everyone what flowers do best in you yard for hummers?
A millon feeders or flowers which brings hummers better?
I don't have a lot of plants yet in my yard/wannabe garden but, for me its Salvia greggi, firebush, lantana and esperanza, in that order.
I got the Monrvia Salvia called Navajo "Rose" very nice. Check out their site, they have great info , a lot about hardiness and the otherside of the coin too much heat.
Great pics, but, OK, we have one of those feeders from Lowe's, too, and our hummers seem to ignore it in favor of the glass tube type. Or the flowers--hibiscus, verbena, etc. I am wondering if you have to keep the nectar filled all the way up to the rim so that the birds beaks can reach it....any thoughts?...Thanks a million.
tabasco,
I don't fill mine all the way up. They stick their beaks in and lap it up with thier tounge. They can lick all the way to the bottom. I don't get that many birds so the smaller feeders work best for me as I'm not wasting much.
Missed gettin' that tongue, monte!
Some nice shots , love the hummers . They love the shrimp plant in my area and seem to enjoy the trumpets and butterfly ginger I have also. Of couse they share the butterfly bushes with the butterflys . Am still trying to get more to come around though but look forward to there morning visit and in the eveing. Have a great day.
They are constantly in my mexican firebush, mexican petunias, firespike, and a specific salmon colored canna. Mostly in the firebush. they cant leave that one alone.
