Little thang...

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Do the blooms/buds usually get bigger or smaller after the very 1st bloom? Can it go either way? This is a Susie Seedling, its about 3½ feet tall, and heres the bud (that I could NOT stand to wait for so I ripped open the calyx).
I know there are a few smaller blooms out there. Has anyone measured them? Like Mercury.
I just can not believe how small it is. The little trendils are ¼ inch long. Just a small little patio brug. The seed was planted in January of this year, and it has not wilted once in the heat. (No humidity here tho) But I have others that are just sad come mid-day. I dont water this one near as much as the others, MAYBE every other day.
Edited to change from Gemini to Mercury.

Shelly, here is a picture of a bud that I'm dying to see open. The first bud was not nearly this long. I wonder if it sometimes depends on the weather or if it is totally genetics. The total length of the bud without the peduncle is probably close to eight inches long. I'd have to measure to be sure.

Thanks S! Ive heard of them getting smaller when more open, but I cant remember hearing anything about them getting bigger... lol maybe I have, and I just didnt pay attn.
Have you done the flashlight thing to this one S? :o) (How do the trendils look)?

I have a Rosamond in the ground that the blooms seem to get bigger and bigger, the bigger the tree gets. I have a sucker from it in a pot and the flowers are getting smaller and smaller the more root bound it becomes.

I find they grow bigger and bigger as they emerge from the calyx, Shelly. You cheated! I bet it grows longer.

LOL I dont WANT it longer Kell!

Shelley, the bud is too small to compare it with a fully grown flower.

Shelly, I got up this morning and when I looked at the banana bud, LOL, the calyx had broken open and the flower was sticking out about an inch and a quarter.....over night. I was shocked to see so much growth. Hopefully, tomorrow night it will begin to open.

She looks alot like a suave, yellowish white right now, 1st night open, but the athers are not fused. She is about 8 inches long, and a petite bloom. I would show a pic, but she is really ripped up. Wont be long for others (I hope).
She smells alot like red licorice. I could have sworn I saw a tint of pink earlier today. Probably wishful thinking.
