White Flies

(Zone 5a)

Can anyone tell the best way to get rid of white flies on brugs?

If it is just a few, I take a Q-tip, and dip it in alcohol, and touch the whiteflies, it dries them up, but can leave chemical burns on your leaves. I have also used Malathion when there were more than a few.

What kind of damage do white flies cause? Since I've been home in Houston, all the brugs I brought to my mom have gotten infested with them...but they seem to just be sitting there and causing no damage?

This seems to be a great article. It talks about what they can do, and what one can do to stop them.

Thanks for posting the article; our small greenhouse full of white flies which are all over his tomato plants (We ate our first tomato May 20!). Anyway, will give him the article and let him decide which deadly force to use.

Following Kell's advice, I hit them with Neem Oil...they be gone!!! Also, the homemade oil/soap works well too.

You are lucky. One year I had white flies so bad on a confederate rose I had to burn it to get rid of them!
