Spanish Lavender
Spanish Lavender is one of my favorites in my garden. I got mine from a local nursery here, but you can order it from High Country Gardens at www.highcountrygardens.com
Spanish lavender is the one that does very well here without babying. I'm in zone 8a. I don't know how well it will do in MI. It certainly won't hurt to give it a try.
I have to replace the plant about ever 3-5 years. If you cut it back in fall in may last longer for you.

I know Spanish Lavender isn't hardy in Z5 but I'm not sure about Z6. If I were you I would keep them in containers and put them in your garage for the winter or mulch heavilly after the ground freezes and see what happens. But if you have alot of them I would do some research on their hardiness before winter gets here.
These folks have a nice selection of Spanish Lavender too.
