transplanting a King Sago Palm questions

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

I will be transplanting a large King Sago today. She is 6-7 years old and currently in the ground. Since putting a trampoline near her she has become unhappy (yellowing fronds). I think its a sunlight problem and will dig her up, pot her and put her in a nice area in the front of the house. That being said; how do I accomplish this? Will a plant that has been in the ground tolorate being potted up? What depth can I expect to dig? How do I dig? The plant is about 3-4 feet across so do I dig around the fronds and back towards the center? I appreciate any help given. George aka Jester.

George, sounds like you have plan,I would go out to the drip edge, and work in and down till you start finding roots,Cala has dug a bunch,I hope she sees this, maybe she can help. I do not see any reason it would not take to pot life.

wait until winter if you can and remove most of the foliage.
they also have a massive tap root/root crown, if you break it, it will die.

I try not to move sagos on account of this.
