I am growing 'Sunray' for the first time this year. I received this one as a trade. I am familiar with its tendency to have pale foliage - no problem. It has been growing well and has Y'd twice. I can see little tiny buds forming in the Y's but they drop off when they are less than 1 cm long. All my other brugs have had flowers by now - and my "best" one, Cypress Gardens, just finished its 3rd flush. I treat Sunray no differently than my other brugs. What can I do to get it to bloom???
Sunray question...
Sunray is a pain-at least for me. Every year I swear it is my last year to grow it and it is going to go to the compost-somehow I can't do it. There is something I like about it when it does grace me with blooming. I have had it y and y and y and not bloom-10ft. tall and no blooms. Then another year it blooms-never a prolific bloomer. Good Luck.
Got rid of mine. dIdn't care for it at all!
Brugie,Was it because of the flower or growth habit? There is something I like about the yellow flower. Haven't even looked to see what it is doing this summer.
I got rid of mine, too. 'Just didn't think it was pretty. There are too many that I really love to waste time on those that I just don't like.
Barbara: I am Gloria. Don't know if you were addressing me? I gave it away, didn't toss. It just was not colorful or nice enough. Have so many to choose from that are much better.
Sorry, Gloria. Don't know why I did that. Old age could be the answer. LOL
It's an old hybrid...sorry it doesn't meet expectations............... :-(
Tom, I know you aren't getting answers, but I don't know what to tell you either. If you are fertilizing and the plant looks good, maybe with fall coming and the temps going down some, that will help hold the buds better. Good luck.
