Anyone heard about Luna's latest games. Luna has now started bashing boats in Nootka Sound. Has almost sunk one this week.

Wonder what will happen now with this whale?

Will have to go onto Google to see what has been happening.

Luna seems to be creating problems for some fishing boats and causing a lot of damage.

Here is the link to the story in the local paper:

I heard an interview with the skipper of the sail boat. Sounds like tempers are getting a little short and you can hardly blame them. Its the later problems that happen when folks decide to treat a wild animal as a pet. Someone needs to have the " " to actually make something happen there.

Poor thing is hungry, and think the boat is bringing him food. Don't some wales eat fish, instead of Krill? Just wondering, did that boat carry fish. Perhaps it was humgry. Norma

The boat that Luna knocked off the rudder, was a sail boat. It went after it a few times according to the paper. The skipper got to shore, fixed it, and Luna came to it again. Also this week, Luna was involved with 2 gillnetters, (Fish boats) damaging either the nets or the boats, I'm not sure. Each fisherman lost about $10,000 worht of fish plus damages to their equip. It's getting tothe point where people are saying someone's going to either get hurt/killed by Luna, or someone's going to get fed up with Luna and kill him. Here's another link telling the latest.http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2004/08/20/luna_040820.html

Times like this, I just have a hard time seeing nature at work, and interferring with people, and, I should say more bothering to me, is seeing people interfering with nature. I'm starting to feel there might not be a happy ending to this.

That's the feeling I had when his original departure date was interfered with. :(

Thanks for the update Glenda, how's your garden?

North Saanich, Canada

Hey LInda. Garden doing okay. The datura is a little sad, but it is just heavy from the rain. IT is still blooming away. The brugs are fine. The white cutting you gave me has rooted well in the water, so I will pot it up soon. The yellow(I think you said it was probably Charles Grimaldi??), is doing well. Growing, and has 3 blooms taht I hope I will get to see. They are small, but healthy. Afte rall the rain, I need to have a few outside days to deadhead plants and get things looking a little better.
How did you make out with all the rain???

Glenda, we made out OK. No real problems with the brugs, but the huge pot I had full of petunias, that was overflowing and like a waterfall of colour trailing along the ground, it really didn't like the rain, hopefully it'll come back some now that it's drying out.

Better get out there quick, looks wet for the rest of the week.

Linda
